Thanks, Shel. I appreciate that. I'm afraid that the answer for me has been to stop commenting almost anywhere and to basically leave DeafRead. I know you were thinking about it and ended up deciding to stay. Thank you for that. You, and other people who are reasonable yet able to stay Deaf-centered, while articulating why that is, are going to be part of the light for me, and many others, I suspect.

Thanks, Shel.

Jenny,

I know exactly how you feel. I have felt that way too, and am sure that many have, too, so that is why I shared this story.

Glad you enjoyed my story! Pick up a flashlight, and you'll find your way out, too. ;-)

Shel

Shel,
What a wonderful tale! I have been so disillusioned and discouraged the past few weeks and truly feeling like I am in a tunnel with no light shining through on either end. Thank you! This is a gem.

Don,

Agreed!

Teri,

Great addition to my story! In order to successfully educate others (in AGBell land)about Deaf culture, we need to heal and unite as well as make more friends there. We need to become the flashlights as well.

Mike, thank you for your kind comments. I couldn't agree more with your statement that we are all in it together. Let's hope we WILL move forward from this point. Hope your coffee was as good as mine? :-)

David,

In order to stop attacking, people need to forgive. I agree that no one deserves to be pilloried the way people have been the few weeks. I hope this doesn’t continue as we the Deaf community cannot take more of that.

Oh no...No Timmie? Well I have a Tim Horton coffee machine at home, so I have coffee as good as Tim Horton's. If you forget again, I will pour some for you. ;-)

LaRonda,

Thank you for your wonderful comment! We sorely need more stories of wisdom, indeed. In dark days there's a great need for those stories as well as uplifting stories that speak of joy and humour, too. I enjoy your vlogs, too. :-)

Shel

Ahhhh... HEARTSHINE!!! The wisdom stories are back! Thanks to Mike and you Shell for leading us back to the heart. I loved the part where the group decides to leave the flashlights for others who might also travel through the dark tunnel and need the light to help others come through. Wonderful metaphor for days of hope ahead in the Deaf community.

Peace. (Waving flashlight)

~ LaRonda
www.earofmyheart.com

Hi Shel,

Very interesting concept you have created.

Without constructive approach, people would have hard time to share lights with people who were lost in darkness and attacked them.

If people in darkness stop attacking and accept the light, then they can move out of darkness.

Nobody deserves to be criticized harshly and painfully in public.

Oh no, I forgot to bring a cup of Tim Horton's coffee....

Deafchip

Hello Shel, thanks for sharing your AWESOME story. I was touched at the part when some individuals went back into the pitch dark tunnel with their borrowed flashlights and tried to get other people out of the dark. People there wanted an apology so amends were made to lead them out to Veditz Camp. Indeed, we are all in it together and can only move forward at this point. This is one for the archives! Yes, I was sipping coffee while watching you, smile.
